Physical Activity and Health,Pluridisciplinarity Approach in ICE

This program aims to convene several disciplinary fields to understand the human adaptation to hostile environment. The idea is look for whether physiological, cognitive and psychological individual changes converge during the wintering period in both female and male populations. The literature supports two main objectives: (1) make an inventory of physiological, psychological and cognitive processes in a hostile environment to observe different patterns in the evolution of the variables, and verify the existence (or not) of a “third quarter time phenomenon” either in psychological or physiological variables; (2)ultimately, to propose a physical activity training to improve the whole health (physiological, cognitive and psychological dimensions). Therefore, the final aim of this research program is applied, more specifically it aims to improve long term winterers health habits in the station.
