Résumé

Extension de la couverture de la chaîne de radars SuperDARN hémisphère Sud afin de couvrir, grâce à deux radars transhorizon HF situés au Dôme C, les secteurs de longitude situés d'une part entre Kerguelen et la Tasmanie, et d'autre part entre la Nouvelle Zélande et la base Antarctique de Halley Bay. Ces radars seraient appariés l'un avec un radar US au pôle Sud et l'autre avec un radar chinois installé sur la base Antarctique de Zongshan. Cet ensemble de deux radars est développé dans le cadre d'une collaboration franco-italienne.

Abstract

The Super Dual Auroral Radar Network (SuperDARN) has been developed in the last 10 years for the study of the high latitude ionosphere in the framework of Solar-Terrestrial Relations and of the investigation of the near Earth environment. At present SuperDARN consists of two longitudinal chains, in the Northern and Southern hemispheres, comprising respectively of 9 and 6 HF coherent radars. It is desirable that the longitudinal coverage in the Southern hemisphere be completed through the installation at Dôme C of two radars whose fileds of view should point from the invariant geomagnetic South pole towards the auroral and sub-auroral regions.
